Police arrest man over alleged false alarm on bandits invasion in Ebonyi

Men of the Ebonyi state police command have arrested one Nwali Nwibo for spreading false information claiming bandits and Fulani herdsmen had invaded Nguzu Edda Community in Edda Local Government Area of the state.

The spokesperson for the state command, SP Joshua Ukandu, disclosed this in a statement released.

According to Ukandu, the arrest followed a painstaking, intelligence-led investigation conducted by the Command, which established the report’s falsity and led to the suspect’s apprehension.

He added that the Commissioner of Police, CP Hope Okafor, has urged residents of the state to verify the authenticity of information before posting or sharing it on social media and other platforms.

She cautioned members of the public against the dissemination of false information capable of causing panic, fear, and a breakdown of law and order.
