The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested a 45-year-old man, Muhammad Makama, for allegedly def!ling his neighbour’s 8-year-old daughter at Dorawan Dillalai area of Bauchi metropolis.
The spokesperson for the command, SP Nafiu Habib, who disclosed this in a statement on 7th July, 2026, said the case was reported to the ‘E’ Division Yelwa, Bauchi, by the victim’s mother.
According to the PPRO, the mother alleged that the suspect lured her daughter into his room and def!led her.
Habib further disclosed that suspect was assaulted by some angry members of the community.
“In its’ sustained fight against S3xual and Gender-Based Violence, the Bauchi State Police Command have arrested a 45-year-old man in connection with an alleged case of def!lement of a minor,” the statement read.
“The incident was reported to ‘E’ Division Yelwa, Bauchi, on 5th July, 2026 at about 2214hrs by the 32-years-old mother of the victim, who resides at Dorawan Dillalai, Bauchi.
“The complainant alleged that on the same date at about 1211hrs, one Muhammad Makama ‘m’, 45-years-old, of the same address, lured her 8-years-old daughter into his room and def!led her.
“Upon receipt of the report, police operatives immediately swung into action. The victim was taken to the Police Clinic for medical examination and treatment.
“The suspect was also taken to the same facility for treatment after being assaulted by some angry members of the community, and was subsequently discharged.
“The case is under investigation at the Gender Laboratory of the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) Bauchi, for discreet investigation and diligent prosecution.
“The Commissioner of Police, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, mni, psc (+), has condemned the act in the strongest terms.
“He assured the public that the Command will ensure justice is served in accordance with the law.
“He further urged parents, guardians, and community members to remain vigilant and to promptly report any suspicious activity involving children to the nearest police station.”
