Additionally, the actress and author described how it was a “holy privilege” to have seen the person who gave her life “take his final breath,” noting that he was surrounded by loved ones.
“I had the sacred distinction of witnessing the man who saved my life draw his final breath yesterday with family gathered at his bedside. As he left, we felt Peace enter the space.

Just a few days ago, before his passing, on the fourth of July, Oprah celebrated her father by organizing a huge party and barbecue in his honor. She named it “Vernon Winfrey Appreciation Day.”
The star had several large tables draped with white cloth and huge canopies set out for Vernon’s friends and guests to celebrate with him.
According to a video shared by Oprah, they had “been planning a backyard barbecue that’s actually more than a barbecue” for him, and there was plenty of food readily available for all who attended the “Vernon Appreciation Day.”
The menu included hearty meals ranging from fried chicken, turkey, and burgers prepared in large numbers to feed all their guests.
Vernon had no idea the celebration was in his honor and was joyfully surprised to find out what his doting daughter had prepared for him.
As per her website, oprahdaily.com, Oprah showed her gratitude for her dad, saying, “Thank you for being the kind of father who has brought honor to your life and honor to my life.”
