Nigerian athlete, Tobi Amusan secures 2026 Diamond League final spot

Nigerian sprint hurdler Tobi Amusan has qualified for the 2026 Wanda Diamond League Final following a consistent run in the women’s 100m hurdles this season.

 

The World record holder accumulated 28 points from five Diamond League meetings, comfortably sealing qualification for the season-ending championship set for September 4–5 in Brussels, Belgium.

 

Amusan currently ranks second in the standings behind American Masai Russell, who leads with 32 points. Both athletes have remaining races in London, Lausanne, Silesia, and Zurich before the final.

 

Both athletes are expected to compete in the remaining Diamond League meetings in London, Lausanne, Silesia and Zurich before the final in Brussels.

 

The former world champion has recorded a season’s best time of 12.28 seconds on three occasions this year.

 

Russell, meanwhile, holds the fastest time in the world this season with 12.14 seconds.

 

Amusan will head to Brussels aiming to win her fourth Diamond League title.
