The seven students from Myanmar’s Yangon were purportedly detained by officials for their claimed involvement in Saw Moe Win’s gunshot killing.
According to the Dagon University Students’ Union, he was a former military officer who oversaw a state-owned Global Treasure Bank branch that was slain that month in South Dagon township.
The report did not identify the particular allegations, but considering that these military courts have a clear political goal, they are largely unimportant.
The Dagon University Students’ Union condemned the punishments as a military act of vengeance in a statement.

The number of people who have been slain or imprisoned by the military regime is tracked by the Assistance Association for Political Prisoners (AAPP) report.
According to their study, four further students received the death penalty as well, perhaps for participating in anti-regime actions.
Additionally, AAPP has made sure that since coming to power in February 2021, the military committee has murdered at least 2,553 people. The executions were largely perceived as an intensification of the army government’s terror campaign against the rising opposition to its control.
