Marvin Sutton Murdered Grandfather In Car Theft Attempt

Marvin Sutton Murdered Grandfather In Car Theft Attempt – Marvin Sutton, aged 25, stands accused of the tragic murder of Christopher Hanley, a beloved 57-year-old grandfather who lost his life while bravely attempting to thwart car thieves from stealing his Land Rover on Olympic Street in Beswick, Manchester. The incident occurred on Saturday, March 16, leading to Mr. Hanley’s untimely demise.
Reports indicate that Mr. Hanley valiantly clung to the car’s bonnet in a desperate bid to prevent the theft before being violently thrown to the ground, ultimately succumbing to his injuries. Emergency services responded to the scene following the distressing event, but Mr. Hanley was pronounced deceased upon their arrival.

Described by his grieving family as a cherished and dedicated family man, Mr. Hanley’s sudden and unjust passing has left them shattered. Marvin Sutton, who currently has no fixed address, appeared before Manchester Crown Court via videolink. During the brief hearing, he confirmed his identity but did not enter a plea. Judge Nicholas Dean KC remanded Sutton into custody, scheduling a trial for September 9, with a pre-trial hearing set for May.

In a heartfelt tribute, Mr. Hanley’s family expressed their profound sorrow over the loss of Chris, emphasizing his love for his grandchildren and underscoring the unfairness of his premature departure. They have requested privacy during this difficult time to honor Chris’s memory.

Following Mr. Hanley’s tragic death, the authorities launched a murder inquiry, leading to the arrest of two individuals. A 35-year-old man was taken into custody on suspicion of murder, while a 43-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of aiding an offender and has since been released on bail pending further investigation.
