A man has publicly apologised to Nigerians he says may have been influenced by his past political opinions in support of the ruling party, saying current realities have forced him to reassess his views.
According to him, although he never considered himself a politician and only participated minimally in politics, he had strongly defended and predicted the rise of Bola Ahmed Tinubu before the 2023 election, at a time many doubted he would emerge.
He said some people later reminded him that his political analyses contributed to their decision to support or vote for the APC, adding that he initially felt there was no need to respond.
However, he said growing insecurity, kidnappings, hardship and fear for children’s safety made silence impossible, especially as a father. He stated that support for any government should never stop citizens from speaking against injustice or failure, stressing that criticism is a civic responsibility.
He went on to apologise to anyone whose expectations may not have been met due to his political influence, saying Nigeria’s current situation demands accountability, better governance and protection for citizens.
