Kano Hisbah arrest man over alleged attempt to traffic two women to Somalia

The Kano State Hisbah Board has arrested a 43-year-old man, Abubakar Adodo, for allegedly attempting to traffic two women from Katsina State to Somalia through Benin Republic.

Deputy Commander General of the Hisbah Board, Sheikh Mujahid Aminudeen Abubakar, disclosed this while briefing journalists in Kano on Monday.

He said the arrest followed credible information received from concerned citizens.

According to him, the operation was carried out by the Officer-in-Charge of Motor Parks Operations after a tip-off from Good Samaritans alerted officials to the suspect’s movement.

The victims, identified as 22-year-old Hajara Ismail from Funtua and 33-year-old Bilkisu Haruna from Kofar Marusa, were intercepted at a motor park in Kano while preparing to travel to Lagos as part of the alleged trafficking route.

Sheikh Abubakar added that the suspect and the two women have been handed over to the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) for further investigation.
