On May 9, the day before she passed away, Powers and the young girl’s mother, Kylee-Jade Johnson, went Kiara to the hospital because she had been throwing up. She underwent an abdominal ultrasound at the time, according to Butler County Coroner Lisa Mannix, but the doctor found no abnormalities or wounds.

After the doctor’s visit, Powers took Kiara home. According to the autopsy report, Powers claimed that after feeding the girl, he stayed in bed for several hours with her on his chest before realizing she was “unresponsive.” Mannix wrote that he then dialed 911 and began CPR. When the ambulance arrived, the baby girl was still receiving CPR, but by the time they got to the hospital, she had already been declared dead.

She had suffered a blow to the head, according to the autopsy. Between April 3 and May 10, the day of her death, according to Mannix, the injury occurred. The injuries were brought on by Powers, according to court documents.

Johnson thinks Powers launched a GoFundMe to fund his escape after he left town.

She claimed that after the man had vanished and left, he was feeling guilty about what he had done because no one would run after his daughter had died. No one would simply skip states,

While he is being transported to Ohio, Powers is being detained at the Cooke County Jail.
