Ireland deports Nigerian man convicted of threatening mass m8rder and ter­ror­ist crimes in Scotland

A Nigerian man with terror convictions for threatening to commit mass m8rder and bomb a university has been deported from Ireland.  Sam Okwuoha, 28, who claimed to be a decuplet with nine identical brothers, was removed from the State as part of a crackdown by Justice Minister Jim OCallaghan on foreign nationals involved in serious criminality.  Okwuoha was among six men placed on a chartered flight that left Dublin Airport on Tuesday morning, July 28, 2026.  The aircraft stopped in Rome as part of a joint Frontex removal operation before continuing to Lagos. Okwuoha had previously been identified by Irish authorities as a threat to national security. Earlier attempts to deport him were unsuccessful after he violently resisted officers from the Garda National Immigration Bureau (GNIB) during a forced removal operation. During the incident, Okwuoha defecated on himself in an attempt to frustrate the deportation process. He subsequently became the first person prosecuted in Ireland for obstructing the enforcement of a deportation order.  In court, Okwuoha challenged the prosecution by claiming he was one of 10 identical brothers born as decuplets, and that garda had mistaken him for a sibling. His case had been listed again this week, but the court was informed the prosecution was being withdrawn. Security source have confirmed he was removed from Ireland on Tuesday morning. Okwuoha was convicted in Scotland in 2023 of a series of terror-related offences committed at Dundee University between 2021 and 2022. He was an international energy studies student who had made advances on a fellow student, but was rebuffed, leading to a series of threats. A jury in Scotland found him guilty of threatening to m8rder university staff, threatening to commit terrorist crimes, threatening mass m8rder, claiming he would use biological weapons, threatening to behead police officers and claiming he had planted bombs at the university. He also claimed he had enlisted the support of terrorist group Islamic State to bomb the university, and said he intended to launch a chemical attack on Dundee. He was sentenced to 40 months imprisonment, with the presiding judge ruling that his presence in the UK was not conducive to the public good and ordering his deportation. Okwuoha later travelled to Ireland, where he came to the attention of garda before he was detained.  Deportation proceedings were subsequently initiated after authorities raised concerns that he posed a risk to national security. On Tuesday, Justice Minister Jim OCallaghan confirmed that deportation orders had been enforced against six Nigerian nationals.  Five of those removed had accumulated a combined total of 35 criminal convictions. Our immigration system must be rules-based and robust, Mr OCallaghan said.  The enforcement aspects of our laws, including deportation orders, are an essential requirement for the system to work effectively and to ensure there is public confidence in the application of our legislation in this area. I will take action if our laws are not upheld, and this includes enforcing deportations for individuals involved in criminality and who pose a danger to society.”The post Ireland deports Nigerian man convicted of threatening mass m8rder and terrorist crimes in Scotland appeared first on Linda Ikeji Blog.
