INEC begins Continuous Voter Registration exercise

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Monday, August 18, commenced the nationwide Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise with online pre-registration.

INEC Chairman, Professor Mahmood Yakubu, described the exercise as a crucial step in ensuring active participation in the upcoming elections.

According to him, the CVR will allow already registered voters to update their information or transfer their voter record to another location. The commission has also launched a feature on the CVR portal where voters can check the status of their voter cards, find the location of their designated pickup centres, and, for those not previously registered, locate the nearest registration centres.

“Your PVC is your key to making your voice heard in our democratic process. We urge every eligible voter to seize this opportunity to register, update their information, collect their PVCs, and actively participate in shaping their future,” Yakubu said.

He added that the exercise would also allow registration of new voters at any of the designated registration points.
