I chose the wrong life partner

A Nigerian woman, Lovina Ashedzi Emmanuel, has shared her heartbreaking journey of how she went from being a skincare CEO, poet and community developer to a street hawker all because she “chose the wrong life partner.”

In a Facebook post, Lovina stated that the saddest stories are not about people who never had aspirations, but about those who possessed bright futures and watched everything slowly fall apart due to poor decisions.

Reflecting on her past, she recalled her days as a passionate community developer dedicated to making a difference. She was also a skincare CEO and a poet, a multi-faceted woman defined by her creativity and ambition.

According to Lovina, she ignored all the red flags and invested her emotions, time, energy, and financial resources into the union, operating under the belief that love alone could conquer any obstacle. However, she revealed that the experience ultimately taught her a difficult lesson: love is not enough.

She concluded by advising other women to learn from her mistakes and cautioned them never to lose their identity or self-worth just to keep a man.

“NEVER LOSE YOURSELF TO KEEP ANYONE…E GET WHY? HOW I WENT FROM COMMUNITY DEVELOPER VSO , SKINCARE CEO Loviz_Nature Bodypaste AND POET TO A STREET HAWKER BECAUSE I CHOSE THE WRONG PARTNER,” she wrote.

“Sometimes, the saddest stories are not about people who never had dreams. They are about people who had dreams, built something meaningful, had promising futures, and slowly watched everything fall apart because of one life decision.

“I was once a Community Developer, passionate about making a difference in people’s lives.

“I was a Skincare CEO, building a business with dreams of growth, independence and financial freedom.

“I was a poet, a woman with words, creativity, ambitions and a voice that wanted to be heard.

“I had dreams. I had plans. I had a vision of the woman I wanted to become.

“But somewhere along the journey, I made a choice I thought was love. I chose a partner who, unfortunately, became part of a chapter that changed the direction of my life.

“I invested my emotions, time, energy and resources. I made sacrifices. I probably ignored signs I should have paid attention to. I believed love would be enough to make everything work.

“But life taught me a painful lesson: LOVE IS NOT ENOUGH.

“Love without understanding is exhausting.

Love without respect is damaging.

Love without support can leave you struggling alone.Love without shared values can make you lose sight of your own dreams.

“I went from building dreams to fighting for survival. From pursuing purpose to doing whatever I could to make ends meet, including hawking on the streets.

“Was it easy? No. Was it embarrassing? Sometimes. Did I question myself? Absolutely.

“But one thing I have come to understand is that honest work is never shameful. There is dignity in survival.

“I may have lost opportunities, businesses, comfort and some of the things I worked hard to build, but I refuse to believe that my story ends here.

“I am not ashamed of where life has taken me. I am more concerned about where I am going.

“Today, I have learned that choosing a life partner is not just about butterflies in your stomach, sweet words or romantic promises.

“Choose someone who respects your dreams. Choose someone who supports your growth. Choose someone who does not make you abandon yourself to prove your love. Choose someone whose presence adds value to your life. And most importantly, never lose yourself trying to keep someone else.

“I WAS A COMMUNITY DEVELOPER. I WAS A SKINCARE CEO. I WAS A POET. I BECAME A STREET HAWKER. BUT I AM STILL A WOMAN WITH DREAMS.

“My current situation is not my final destination. I am still becoming. I am still learning. I am still rising.

And if life gives me another opportunity to rebuild, I will do it with more wisdom, stronger boundaries and a deeper understanding of my worth.

“MY MESSAGE TO EVERY WOMAN: LOVE DEEPLY, BUT NEVER LOVE SO BLINDLY THAT YOU LOSE YOURSELF. LOVE IS IMPORTANT, BUT LOVE IS NOT ENOUGH.#MyStoryMyStrength #LoveIsNotEnough #WomenAndSelfWorth #LifeLessons #MyJourneyToBecoming
