Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani said on Saturday that cybercriminals had shared his personal data on the dark web, saying he believed he was being targeted because of Italy’s support for Ukraine.
“For several days, cybercriminals have been spreading my personal data on the dark web and seeking to obtain further information, exposing me to new threats and intimidation,” Tajani wrote on X.
He attributed the targeting to Italy’s stance on Ukraine, which he described as a defence of the country’s sovereignty, democracy and independence.
“I will not allow myself to be intimidated under any circumstances,” he said. Italy has provided humanitarian and military support to Kyiv as Ukraine defends itself against Russia’s invasion.
