Gunmen abduct APGA chieftain?s son in Anambra

Gunmen have abducted a prominent businessman and son of the Women Leader of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA),  Ifesinachi Onyekere, in Anambra State.

 

Onyekere, who is the Managing Director of Fish Magnet, was reportedly attacked at about 10:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 26, 2025 at his residence in Ezinifite village, Okpuno community near Awka. 

 

Eyewitnesses said the gunmen, who arrived in an ash-coloured Lexus SUV, forced their way into the compound, shot the victim in the leg, and fled with him in his own navy blue Toyota Corolla. The vehicle’s registration number remains unknown.

 

Sources said the assailants escaped through bush paths in the direction of Nawfia, sparking fear among residents. 

 

Local volunteers and security watch groups have since begun combing the area in search of the victim, while efforts are being made to trace his phone and contact the abductors. 

 

As of the time of this report, the victim’s whereabouts remain unknown. Family members have appealed for calm and urged anyone with useful information to come forward.
