Eric Andrew Salata Dies From Apparent Suicide: A Florida doctor who was last week accused of raping unconscious women in his office at a spa has passed away.
After Eric Andrew Salata’s ankle monitor had not moved for several hours on Monday, the Collier County Sheriff’s Office looked into the situation, according to WINK. He had a gunshot wound to the head when they discovered him in a ditch in a wooded area close to his home.
After spotting a boot, a deputy discovered the body. Authorities claimed that a firearm was found next to his leg.
On November 21, the 54-year-old Salata was taken into custody on two counts of sexual battery on a defenseless victim and released on bond the next day. Two ladies, 51 and 72 years old, said that Salata sexually assaulted them after administering them laughing gas (nitrous oxide) as they had procedures at the Pure Vida Medical Spa, which he and his wife owned.
Authorities claimed Salata left two notes, his wedding ring, and credit cards at his residence in addition to the notes. They kept the contents of the notes a secret.
Because an autopsy has not yet been conducted, police have not declared that his death was a suicide; nonetheless, the sheriff’s office has stated that his death is not suspicious.

Also, in a statement to The Daily Beast, Adam Horowitz, an attorney for one of the doctor’s victims, claimed Salata “escaped justice.”
Dr. Salata’s escape from justice is disheartening and frustrating, Horowitz said. “My client had to have had a lot of bravery, to tell the truth. She was prepared to prosecute him for his actions.
