Court remands 27-year-old man for allegedly k!lling his father in Oyo

A 27-year-old man, Musa Lamidi, has been remanded in a correctional facility by an Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court in Ibadan, Oyo State, for allegedly k1lling his father, identified as Rufai Lamidi.

The police arraigned Lamidi on Wednesday, May 21, 2025, charging him with m8rder. 

According to the Prosecutor, ASP Musbau Lawal, the incident occurred on May 11 at about 11pm in Eruwa, Oyo State.

Lawal told the court that the suspect allegedly struck his father on the forehead with a stick, leading to his d3ath. 

The offence, he said, contravenes Section 319 of the Criminal Laws of Oyo State, 2000.

Magistrate Olaolu Olanipekun declined to take Lamidi’s plea due to lack of jurisdiction. 

He ordered that the case file be forwarded to the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) for legal advice. 

The case was adjourned until July 10 for mention.
