After a Colorado Man Carlos Trejo Breaks Into Police Station on Sunday morning to turn himself in was discovered, authorities in Colorado started an investigation into a homicide.
Prior to 1:30 in the morning, Carlos Trejo, 36, is said to have attempted to break into a police substation, according to KMGH. According to reports, he informed police he intended to turn himself in after shooting and killing his roommate.
When police arrived at Trejo’s neighboring flat, they discovered a deceased man there. According to the police, Trejo has been accused of second-degree murder.
The identity of the roommate has not been disclosed, and authorities have made no other statements regarding the incident.
On Saturday afternoon, a neighbor called KKTV to report hearing shouting and yelling.
The neighbor said, “It’s funny because, in addition to the yelling and screaming at around 2:00 or 3:00 yesterday, I also heard banging on the walls around 6:30 or 7:30 and someone saying, “I’m done, I’m done, I’m done,” and that’s essentially what it led up to until 1:30 this morning when cops knocked on my door and everyone else was on the floor.
Trejo is being kept in custody on a $50,000 bond and has a Monday court date, according to jail records.
