Car crashes through fence into nursery playground and injures children

Three children have been injured after a car crashed into a nursery playground in Ellesmere Port. 

Partou Sunny Days Nursery and Preschool confirmed they were “dealing with an incident” and have closed for the day. 

Officers from Cheshire Police responded to reports of a crash at a nursery school on Vale Road in the Whitby area of the town at around 9.54am on Monday, June 15. 

Photos from the scene show the car had smashed through a painted green fence and into the play area. 

Witnesses reported seeing two ambulances, an air ambulance, a fire engine and four police vehicles, including an armed response vehicle at the scene.

Of the three injured children, one of them, a two-year-old, was seriously injured. 

A 63-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving. 

The vehicle said to be involved in the crash, a grey Omoda, has been removed from the scene.
