Social commentator Solomon Buchi has strongly criticized Nigerian men who engage in negotiations with their female love interests regarding monthly stipends or upkeep allowances.
Buchi’s remarks came in response to a viral video showing a woman telling a prospective boyfriend that she requires a minimum of ₦500,000 monthly for her upkeep.
Reacting sharply to the video, Buchi berated men who entertain such financial discussions. According to him, any man who engages in these negotiations displays a lack of self-worth, suggesting they were “not loved at home.”
He further argued that women who treat romantic relationships as a negotiation for financial stipends are essentially engaging in “prostitution,” warning men to steer clear of such transactional dynamics.
