Activist Aisha Yesufu has fired back at the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, following comments mocking her failure to secure a senatorial ticket.
The exchange began on Saturday, May 30, 2026, when Wike took a swipe at Yesufu during a Luncheon in Port Harcourt, Rivers State. Addressing the gathering, Wike ridiculed the activist—known for her sharp public commentary—for failing to win an “ordinary” primary election.
“There’s one woman who said Wike is an appointee of government and that she has no business with appointees,” Wike said, referencing her previous media remarks. “
You speak grammar, speak grammar. Ordinary primary of NDC, not APC or PDP, just ordinary NDC, what happened? She didn’t make it.
It’s easy for people to talk. When they enter into those media houses, they begin to churn out data from nowhere. Now, the time for data has come. What happened? ‘Fa fa fa foul. It didn’t work. If e didn’t dey? E didn’t dey.”
Reacting swiftly via her official X handle, Yesufu challenged the FCT Minister to address her directly.
“If dem born Wike well, make e call my name with his full chest! What Tambuwal did him in 2022 will be child’s play,” Yesufu wrote, referencing Wike’s own past defeat in the 2022 Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential primaries.
Yesufu had defected from the African Democratic Congress (ADC) to the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) on May 6 to contest the FCT senatorial seat. However, she withdrew from the race on Friday, alleging that the party’s primary process was manipulated and lacked transparency. During her brief campaign, she had dismissed Wike’s political influence in Abuja, labeling him a mere appointee who could not dictate election outcomes
