The abducted Chairman of Sapele Local Government Area, Bright Abeke, has regained freedom from his captors.
Abeke was released 10 days after he was abducted by gunmen, who stormed his hotel, Debrofred, located along Owumi Road in the timber town on Friday, April 11, 2026.
It was gathered that the suspected kidnappers arrived in a Range Rover and opened fire to disperse onlookers during the operation.
A vigilante guard identified as Ufuoma and another person sustained gunshot during the attack.
Details of his release, including whether a ransom was paid, remain unclear as of the time of filing this report.
