15 beggars arrested as Lagos state government begin crackdown on street begging

Fifteen street beggars were apprehended this morning November 14 by members if the state environmental taskforce during an enforcement operation at Ikosi Ketu and Mile 12.

The state Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, who disclosed this via his X handle, said the operation is part of our ongoing effort to maintain order, ensure safety, and protect public spaces from misuse.

 

He mentioned that the state government will continue to enforce the law while working with the appropriate social welfare agencies to ensure rehabilitation where necessary. 

‘’Lagos must remain safe, clean, and orderly for all who live and work here” he said
