The show’s official social media channels announced it on Friday, July 5, 2024.
The next season, planned to last for 71 days, has an interesting change in the audition process. Housemates hoping to join are required to come with a partner and do a joint audition together.

To participate in BBNaija Season 9, potential housemates must meet the following requirements:
- Be a citizen of Nigeria (non-Nigerian citizens cannot participate for now)
- Be between the ages of 21 and 45 as of June 2024
- Have a valid means of identification (Passport)
- Have the ability to handle the show on an emotional and mental level for 90 days with no contact outside of the house
- Have a minimum of O-level qualification (WAEC, GCE, or NECO)
The period for auditions is from March 27, 2024 until May 4, 2024. At present time, organizers are choosing housemates to participate in competition and win big prize.
