Kira Taiwo, daughter of late Nollywood actor Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, has debunked a viral claim that her sister welcomed a baby boy days after their father’s death.
The claim circulated widely on social media alongside photos and a video carrying the caption, “My Daddy’s Carbon Copy,” with the content suggesting that the newborn had arrived shortly after Ogogo’s death and bore a striking resemblance to him.
Kira Clears the Air
Amid the growing circulation of the claim, Kira took to her Instagram Story to clarify that no such birth had occurred.
She explained that the family had received several calls and messages from concerned friends and relatives seeking confirmation of the report.
Kira said the family decided to speak publicly because of the number of enquiries they had received.
Photos Were From 2024
The viral photos and video were also found to be unrelated to any recent birth in the family.
The images date back to February 2024, when Kira herself welcomed her first child while her father was still alive.
Ogogo had also publicly celebrated becoming a grandfather at the time.
There has been no announcement from the family confirming the arrival of another child following the actor’s death.
Family Appeals for Privacy
Kira also appealed to the public to stop circulating unverified claims about her family, particularly as they continue to mourn their loss.
She wrote:
“DISCLAIMER. Please disregard the information currently circulating that my sister has given birth. This is not true. We have been receiving several calls and messages from friends and family asking about it, so we felt the need to clarify publicly. At a time when our family is mourning the loss of our father, we kindly ask everyone to stop spreading or sharing unverified information about our family. Thank you for your understanding, prayers and respect for our privacy at this difficult time.”
The clarification comes days after Ogogo’s death and burial, as tributes continue to pour in for the veteran actor from colleagues, fans and loved ones.
