Media personality, Nedu has stirred controversy on social media after claiming that some young women deliberately get pregnant just to gain weight.
During his show on Max 102.3 FM, Nedu alleged that “very slim girls” sometimes use pregnancy as a shortcut to achieve a fuller body.

He further claimed that the weight gained during pregnancy is the primary motivation, after which some allegedly choose to terminate the pregnancy once they have achieved their desired body size.
“The one way girls dey do now for Nigeria… some very slim girls, I’ve heard girls do it. When they want to add weight, what they do is they get pregnant. Once they get pregnant, dem don come add weight — pregnancy weight — then they will now terminate the pregnancy,” he said on air.
Nedu’s comments quickly sparked reactions online. Some netizens criticized the remarks as irresponsible and misleading.
A commentator wrote: “This is reckless to say on air. If true, this is very dangerous for girls.” Another added: “I no know if this is real, but spreading it like fact dey scary.”
The statement has continued to generate discussions online, dividing Nigerians between those who see it as a shocking revelation and those who consider it a controversial opinion.
