Content creator and comedian Layi Wasabi has opened up about how his appreciation for the music of Wizkid changed as his life circumstances evolved.
Speaking on his experience as a longtime fan, Layi revealed that he supported Wizkid from the early stages of the singer’s career and often found himself involved in debates about Wizkid and Davido while he was in school.
According to him, there was a period when he became dissatisfied with Wizkid’s musical direction, particularly when the singer began releasing more mellow and reflective songs.
Layi explained that at the time, he preferred music that reflected struggle, hustle, and ambition.
However, he noted that his perspective changed as his own life improved. He said he eventually began to appreciate Wizkid’s softer style of music again, suggesting that his personal experiences influenced the type of music he connected with.
“I was a Wizkid fan from the beginning. I had a lot of argument in school because of Wizkid & Davido. When he started making soft music, I kept complaining that I need to hear the struggle but I started to enjoy Wizkid’s music again when life got better for me,” he said.
