“A N250m Hermès bag is not a sign of prudence” — Daddy Freeze reacts to Peter Obi’s wife’s luxury bag

Media personality Daddy Freeze has weighed in on the controversy surrounding a luxury Hermès bag carried by the wife of presidential candidate Peter Obi.

Daddy Freeze said he had no issue with Obi’s wife owning or carrying an expensive bag, arguing that her husband was already wealthy before entering government.

However, he questioned the apparent contrast between Obi’s public image of personal frugality and the luxury items associated with people around him.

According to Daddy Freeze, Obi has presented himself as an extremely prudent person, including making statements about owning only one pair of shoes and one watch.

He therefore questioned whether the people around the former Anambra State governor maintain the same level of financial prudence.

He described the issue as one of “double standards, hypocrisy and selective morality,” arguing that such contradictions could undermine the image of prudence being promoted.

He said in part …

“I have no problem with Peter Obi’s wife carrying a luxury bag; her husband is a billionaire. He was before he came into government. The only problem I have with him is he says he only has one shoe and one watch, but when you put yourself in a certain light, and things around you don’t seem to add to that light, there is a problem. He (Peter Obi) is honest and humble, but are people around him as prudent as he is?

“If you market yourself as extremely prudent, I promise you a 250 million Naira Hermès bag is not a sign of being prudent.

“My problem is this: double standards, hypocrisy, selective morality. And it’s not going to take us anywhere as a people.

Imagine if na Remi Tinubu that was carrying a bag of 250 million Naira wetin Una go talk?”
