CSI Star Actress Stalked Threatened With Rape And Murder: Emmy-winning actress Eva La Rue experienced stalker anxiety for 12 years. Hundreds of letters with threats of rape, murder, dismemberment, and other crimes were sent to the actress and later, to her daughter.
The fictitious serial killer “Freddie Kruger,” who was the stalker’s pen name, was on the letters. LaRue and her family relocated frequently, once even leaving the country, in the hopes that the stalker would be unable to track them down.
However, just a few days or weeks after each move, the letters seemed to start up again. In an effort to abduct Kaya, the stalker even called her school while pretending to be her father.
In order to identify the stalker’s relatives, investigators found DNA on the letters and compared it to DNA data from for-profit genealogy companies. James David Rogers, 58, was identified as the suspect by FBI officials after a DNA sample taken from a used straw helped to narrow down the field of candidates.
After entering a plea guilty to two charges of sending threatening letters, one count of making threats through interstate communications, and two counts of stalking, Rogers was given a 40-month jail term.
