In the UK Championship round of 16, Hossein Vafaei’s 6-2 loss to Jack Lisowski was marred by his fury.
The Iranian missed what appeared to be a straightforward yellow to virtually accept defeat after falling behind 5-2 in the game and 55-40 in the frame.
Vafaei slammed his cue on the Barbican floor as he walked back to his seat, clearly incensed.

He received a warning from the referee Leo Scullion for his response.
Wow, what occurred there, remarked Dominic Dale, an analyst for Eurosport.
Has he still have a cue?
“Well, the cue has gone down rather sharply there,” David Hendon continued.
This evening, hasn’t that cue taken a little beating? And all the referee is doing is advising him to cool off. A little message from Leo Scullion.
Vafaei also slammed the bottom of his cue into the ground in the sixth round when leading 46-0 after missing a red to the corner pocket.

Vafaei had acknowledged earlier in the week that the upheaval and protests in his native Iran were making it difficult for him to concentrate on his snooker game.
The No. 20 player in the world at age 28 and the first Iranian to play professionally.
Vafaei seemed to be in good shape after defeating Mark Selby in the first round, but he was clearly beaten by an improved Lisowski.
His cue had already suffered some damage earlier in the game when he hurled it to the floor in the sixth frame after missing a red.

Vafaei admitted to Metro.co.uk, “To be honest with you, knowing what is going on in my thoughts, I don’t know how I’m performing. I don’t want to rejoice or claim that my supporters are the reason I’m happy when I win.
Some of them text me to tell me not to play right now and not to disrespect them, but what should I do? Life goes on, so I need to have my own life as well. I am with my people and I support them, but what can I do? “This is not in my hands; all I can do is speak up for them. I’ve given them my best effort, and I’m at a loss for what else to do.

“I’m not sure. I never leave my folks behind. But right now, everyone is asking me if I’ve seen what’s happening in Iran because of the news. I am aware of the situation in my nation, but what can a young person like me do? I am at a loss for words. I’m not interested in getting involved in politics. Every time, politics get in the way, but all I want is for there to be peace and for the people to be joyful once more. I can only desire and speak to my folks in this way.
When asked how his own family and friends were doing, he added: “Everyone is safe.
You may not always know what the news is broadcasting. Where you are, yet there are moments when I cry while watching the news. They are both my brothers and sisters. It’s obviously not great to witness someone die.
Vafaei debuted in 2015 at the UK Championship. When he made it to the fourth round last year, he had his best performance.
