Gift Orban moved ahead of fellow Nigerian Victor Osimhen in the Turkish Süper Lig scoring race after netting his 10th league goal of the season in Amedspor’s 4–3 defeat away to Galatasaray.
Orban, who joined Amedspor on loan during the summer transfer window, had a quiet first half before scoring after the break. The former Lyon striker met a cross from substitute Furkan Soyalp and guided a close-range header past Galatasaray goalkeeper Ugurcan Cakir.
The goal took Orban’s tally to 10 goals and five assists in 11 league appearances, putting him one goal ahead of his Super Eagles teammate in the race for the Golden Boot.
Osimhen missed the match after undergoing knee surgery for an injury he sustained during Galatasaray’s UEFA Champions League victory over Stuttgart. The former Napoli striker had recorded nine goals and three assists in eight league appearances before the injury.
Another Nigerian forward, Yira Sor, also scored for Amedspor after replacing Senegalese striker Mbaye Diagne in the second half. Sor reacted to a rebound inside the penalty area and placed his shot into the bottom corner, but Galatasaray held on to win.
