A 10-year-old boy has fatally shot his 16-year-old female neighbour during a violent confrontation between the victim and his mother over loud music in Albuquerque, New Mexico, United States.
Â
The boy’s mom, Elaina Gomez-Villeda, 40, told cops that the fight with her neighbors in Albuquerque started when she complained about their loud music, KRQE reported.
Â

Â
During the confrontation, she told her young son to go and grab her handgun, and he came out and shot Keinerlein Rangel, 16, killing her, according to authorities.
Â
“I’m probably going to jail right now,” the mom texted her husband before calling 911 to report it.
Â
While Gomez-Villeda was still on the phone with 911, Keinerlein’s father tried to bust down her door and smashed a window, according to police.
Â
Gomez-Villeda then grabbed a gun and shot at the enraged dad, she told cops.
Â
“I thought we were gonna die,” she told cops, according to the outlet. “These people, they do it a lot, and I didn’t think I was gonna be the target, but it is what it is,” she said.
Â
When Albuquerque cops arrived around 4 p.m., they saw someone shooting from inside the apartment and took cover — with Gomez-Villeda holding a gun while chasing three people outside, police said. One cop fired at the mother, but missed.
Â
The 10-year-old boy, who has not been identified due to his age, has not been charged. Detectives are working with the DA to determine potential criminal charges because of his age, KRQE said.
Â
His mother was charged with murder, conspiracy to commit murder, child abuse, contributing to the delinquency of a minor, negligently making a firearm accessible to a minor, misdemeanor battery, and receiving stolen property.
Â
The shooting remains under investigation.
