Phone traders in Kano State have reportedly confronted Chinese nationals accused of selling mobile phones directly to customers, allegedly at prices lower than those offered by local retailers.
In a viral video circulating on social media, the traders said they operate under an association and argued that the Chinese nationals had no right to sell directly to consumers at prices below those charged by local traders.
The development comes weeks after some Nigerian public figures criticised Igbo traders who protested against similar business practices by Chinese nationals in Lagos.
Among those who reportedly commented on the Lagos incident were Lere Olayinka, Dotun and others. However, these public figures are yet to publicly react to the reported incident in Kano.
