The Kano State Police Command has arrested two suspects in connection with the brutal murder of prominent political and religious commentator Ibrahim Khalil Danshagamu.
Danshagamu, widely recognized across social media for his outspoken commentary on Nigerian politics and religion, was found dead with his throat slit at his residence in Gaida Quarters, Kumbotso Local Government Area.
Confirming the development, the command’s spokesperson, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, stated that security operatives responded to a distress call regarding the attack at approximately 11:30 p.m. on Monday night.
“Operatives of the Kumbotso Police Division promptly responded to the scene and rushed the victim to Murtala Mohammed Specialists Hospital, Kano, where he was confirmed de@d on arrival by a medical doctor,” the statement said
Officers of the Kumbotso Divisional Police station have arrested the two suspects in connection with the unfortunate incident.
“The suspects are currently in custody undergoing interrogation. The Command has intensified efforts to apprehend any other persons who may be connected to the crime,” the statement added
The command said forensic procedures were ongoing, while statements were being obtained from relevant persons to establish the circumstances and motive behind the attack.
