A Miami OnlyFans model who fatally st@bbed her Nigerian boyfriend at their Edgewater condo four years ago is heading to prison to serve only two years after accepting a plea deal in the case on Monday, August 10.
In April 2022, Courtney Clenney k!lled 27-year-old Christian Obumseli.
At the time, his posts calling black women ugly and saying white women are better than black women emerged and the black community turned their backs on him, refusing to demand justice (read here, here, here, and here).
Courtney had been facing a second-degree murd£r charge but under the terms of the deal accepted in court Monday, August 10, 2026, she pleaded guilty to a manslaughter charge.
She was sentenced to six years in prison with five years of probation, and must undergo a mental health evaluation and treatment. Since she has already been in custody for 4 years since her 2022 arrest, she will now only serve two years in prison, though her attorneys estimate it’ll be more like 18 to 20 months.
She had been facing up to 30 years in prison if she’d been found guilty of the second-degree murd£r charge.
Wearing an orange jail outfit, Clenney appeared calm while accepting the plea but broke down when Obumseli’s mother spoke.
“Nothing can describe what it feels like for a mother to stand at the grave of her child,” the mother said. “There are also the things that will never happen for me now that he’s gone. The birthdays, the holidays we will not celebrate with him, the conversations we will never have, the person he would continue to become, those losses continue much longer after today’s court case ends.”

Clenney’s attorneys and parents held a news conference following the hearing, where defense attorney Frank Prieto called it a “common sense” decision to take the plea deal.
“What matters to me now is that for the first time in more than four years there is an end in sight. Courtney has a future ahead of her, as her father I’m looking forward to that day that she can begin living her life,” father Kim Clenney said. “I am looking forward to the day I can sit across from her face-to-face and hug her and tell her how much I love her.”
In a statement, Miami-Dade State Attorney Katherine Fernandez Rundle said the plea agreement was reached “in full consultation and approval of Christian’s family.”
“With this plea agreement, Christian Obumseli’s family finally heard what they long sought: Courtney Clenney accepting full responsibility for his death. This plea was reached in full consultation and approval of Christian’s family,” the statement read. “The Assistant State Attorneys handling this case have remained focused on the core evidence that Clenney stabbed Christian Obumseli as part of a pattern of escalating violence toward him. While nothing can heal the wounds caused on that day in April, I hope today’s guilty plea brings his family a measure of justice too long denied.”
The Miami-Dade State Attorney’s Office had described Obumseli as a victim of domestic violence, saying the couple had an extremely tempestuous and combative relationship.
Clenney’s attorneys argued that she was the victim of an abusive relationship and stabbed Obumseli in self-defense.
“I grabbed a knife, and I said, ‘Don’t come anywhere close to me. I have absolutely no intention of using it,’” Clenney said to detectives.
Prosecutors said she murd£red him, citing evidence of a history of her aggression against Obumseli as seen in videos NBC6 obtained in 2022 and 2024.
Clenney has remained in jail without bond as the case dragged on for years. And the legal battle eventually grew beyond the murder charge.
Prosecutors accused Clenney and her parents of breaking into Obumseli’s laptop, leading to computer-related charges.
But that case took another turn when a judge found prosecutors had improperly accessed evidence that was subject to the attorney-client privilege.
The computer-related charges against Clenney and her parents were dropped.
Following Courtney’s sentencing, which many consider short, some black people are still showing support for her, refusing to forgive Christian Obumseli for his statement expressing hate for black women.
