The Tunisia FA is moving swiftly to appoint a permanent Manager following the sacking of Sabri Lamouchi, Monday, at the ongoing FIFA World Cup.
Lamouchi was given the axe after his side’s 5-1 defeat to Sweden in their opening group match on Monday.

Since then, the Carthage Eagles have been linked with several coaches including Herve Renard who is now considered to be the frontrunner for the vacant role.
According to multiple reports Tunisia FA Technical Director Mondher Kebaier was expected to step in on interim basis.
However, Brila.net has gathered that Renard is favored to resume the role before Tunisia’s next game, against Japan on June 21 at the Monterrey Stadium.

The appointment has not been officially confirmed.
Sweden Swept the Carthage Eagles
Nobody saw this coming. Not after the qualifying campaign they had. Not after the rocky road that brought them here.
But on Monday night in Monterrey, Sweden walked onto the World Cup stage and absolutely took it apart.
Sweden opened their 2026 FIFA World Cup campaign with a stunning 5-1 win over Tunisia, with two superb long-range goals from Yasin Ayari, Alexander Isak, Viktor Gyökeres and Mattias Svanberg in one of the most impressive opening performances of the tournament so far.

The result was all the more remarkable given how Sweden arrived here.
Their World Cup qualifying campaign was a disaster, the team finished last in their qualifying group without a single win.
Nobody gave them a chance. Tunisia, known for their solid defensive organization in qualifying, were expected to be the more composed side. Sweden had other ideas.
Yasin Ayari got things started in just the seventh minute, curling a stunning long-range effort into the top right corner.
Alexander Isak doubled the lead in the 29th minute after being released by Gyökeres on a swift counterattack. Sweden were completely in control.

Tunisia gave themselves hope just before the break. Omar Rekik headed home from an assist by Hannibal Mejbri to make it 2-1 going into half time, and suddenly the game had a different feel.
For about fourteen minutes in the second half, Tunisia pushed and probed. Then Gyökeres ended the suspense.
Gyökeres stole the ball right in front of goal and finished in the 59th minute to restore Sweden’s two-goal cushion.

Then came the moment that will be talked about long after this tournament ends.

Substitute Mattias Svanberg scored with his very first touch of the ball, just 18 seconds after coming off the bench, setting the record for the fastest ever goal scored by a substitute in World Cup history.
The stadium erupted. Sweden could not stop scoring.
Ayari completed his brace right before the final whistle, drilling a thunderous effort from the edge of the box that left Tunisia’s goalkeeper looking completely defeated on the floor.
Five goals. One night. History made
It was the first time since the 1938 World Cup that Sweden had scored five goals in a single World Cup match.
The result put Graham Potter’s side top of Group F, two points clear of the Netherlands and Japan, who drew 2-2 earlier in the day.
From a qualifying campaign of zero wins to five goals on the World Cup stage. Sweden did not just arrive at this tournament. They announced themselves.
