Nollywood actress Nancy Isime has opened up about the emotional weight of hosting the Service of Songs held in honour of late actor Alex Ekubo, describing it as the most difficult event she has ever anchored.
The gathering, which took place at Monarch Event Centre in Lekki, Lagos, brought together family members, friends and colleagues from the entertainment industry to pay tribute to the late actor.
Following the event, Nancy shared an emotional message on her Instagram page, reflecting on the experience and expressing grief over the loss.
Grief and remembrance
In her post, the actress said she was still struggling to accept the reality of Alex Ekubo’s death and admitted she could not bring herself to associate his name with rest.
Nancy wrote:
“HARDEST Hosting Gig of my Life! This wasn’t the plan, Old 20 Naira. This wasn’t the plan. But 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18 and Matthew 5:4 are my assurance. I refuse to put your name and rest in one sentence; I just can’t. I miss you, my Brother”.
Her message quickly drew reactions online, with many followers offering condolences and sharing memories of the late actor.
Outfit sparks conversation online
Beyond the tribute itself, discussions also emerged around Nancy’s appearance at the event.
Keeping to the announced dress code, the actress attended in a white gown paired with a fascinator covering part of her face, a choice that generated conversations across social media.
Nancy had previously spoken publicly about online criticism over her fashion choices and once shared behind-the-scenes moments from one of her most discussed red-carpet appearances.
As tributes continue to pour in, Nancy Isime’s emotional message has added another personal reflection to the public mourning surrounding Alex Ekubo, with fans and colleagues continuing conversations about grief, remembrance and public loss.
