Nigeria’s Super Eagles have held onto 26th place in the latest men’s world rankings released by FIFA on Thursday, June 11.
Éric Chelle’s team played two matches at the Unity Cup invitational tournament in London last month. The three-time African champions beat Zimbabwe 2-0 and recorded a 3-0 victory over Jamaica.
Nigeria began June with a friendly against Poland in Warsaw, which finished 2-2. The Super Eagles then lost 2-1 to Portugal in another international friendly in Leiria on Wednesday night. The team also remained third in Africa, sitting behind Morocco and Senegal. Algeria and Egypt round out the top five on the continent.
Globally, the top five stayed unchanged, with world champions Argentina holding onto number one ahead of Spain, France, England, and Portugal. The next FIFA world rankings will be published on Monday, July 20.
