Teenager allegedly lures 17-year-old boy to Bauchi river and drowns him

The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested one Aisanu Nura, 18, for the alleged m8rder of a 17-year-old boy, Abdullahi Muhammad in Darazo Local Government Area of the state.

 

The spokesperson for the command, SP Nafiu Habib, disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday, June 3, 2026.

 

According to the PPRO, the Darazo Divisional Police Headquarters received a report indicating that Muhammad, had drowned in the Kari River under circumstances that suggest involvement by Nura.

 

Habib stated that preliminary investigation revealed that the suspects allegedly lured Muhammad to the river and drowned him. 

 

“The Bauchi State Police Command is investigating a case of suspected culpable homicide following a tragic incident reported in Kari Village, Darazo Local Government Area,” the statement read.

 

“On 24th May 2026 at about 1615 hours, a report was received at Darazo Divisional Police Headquarters alleging that one Abdullahi Muhammad, male, aged 17 years, of Kari Village, drowned in the Kari River under circumstances suspected to involve one Aisanu Nura, male, aged 18 years, also of the same address.

 

“Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect allegedly lured the deceased to the river and drowned him. 

 

“Operatives from Darazo Division promptly responded to the scene, arrested the suspect, and commenced preliminary investigation.

 

“The body of the deceased is yet to be recovered, and search efforts are ongoing.

 

“The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) Bauchi, for discreet and thorough investigation.

 

“The Commissioner of Police, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, mni, psc (+), has directed a professional and diligent investigation to unravel the circumstances surrounding the unfortunate incident. 

 

“He assures the public that justice will be served in accordance with the law, and anyone found culpable will face prosecution.

 

“The Command further urged members of the public, particularly parents and guardians, to intensify supervision of teenagers and to promptly report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station.”
