Former spokesperson for the Benue State Police Command, CSP Anene Sewuese Catherine, has stated that polygamy and promiscuity are two different things.
Anene stated this in a Facebook post on Friday, May 22, 2026 amid the ongoing cheating scandal.
According to the officer, who hails from Benue, polygamy is part of her culture.
She suggested that a man legally marrying multiple wives doesn’t mean he is promiscuous.
“Polygamy and promiscuity are not synonymous. Make una no interpret my culture wrongly please,” she wrote.
