Fatai Amoo Urges Early Rebuild for Super Eagles Ahead of 2030 World Cup

Fatai Amoo has called for a strategic overhaul of the Super Eagles as preparations begin for future international competitions, including the next Africa Cup of Nations and the 2030 FIFA World Cup.

Speaking in a chat with Brila.net, Amoo emphasized the need for a long-term vision focused on rebuilding the team through the gradual integration of young, talented players.

“With what is coming up now we should begin to inject new players, young talented ones, they are still available,” the former Flying Eagles coach said.

“I know some of these players – if we qualify for the next World Cup – will be able to play because of their development.

“Right from the next AFCON if we are serious about doing something good by way of qualifying for the 2030 FIFA World Cup, it starts from the next AFCON.”

Super Eagles Next Gen

Amoo stressed that upcoming matches should not be judged solely by results but should serve as an opportunity to identify and groom the next generation of players.

“All the games we are playing we should start looking at who will take the position of our players that are starting to age.”

He further stated that the team’s priority at this stage should shift from immediate results to long-term improvement.

“It has to be done, the results are not what we should be after now rather we should be focused on improving our football so that by the time we are playing the qualifiers of the World Cup we should have the team ready.” He concluded.
