Super Falcons captain, Rasheedat Ajibade made a decisive impact off the bench as Paris Saint-Germain Féminine stormed into the Coupe LFFP final with a 3–0 victory over city rivals Paris FC on Saturday.
Ajibade sealed the win in the 89th minute, calmly tapping in a cut-back inside the box to crown a dominant PSG display and confirm their place in the final fixture..
Introduced late into the contest, Ajibade’s goal marked her second strike for PSG since joining the club and her first goal contribution since returning from injury.
The Nigerian forward had been sidelined after sustaining an injury against Bayern Munich in the UEFA Women’s Champions League, a match in which she had previously provided an assist.
PSG Control Early, Paris FC Threaten on the Break
PSG started on the front foot, dictating possession and tempo, but remained wary of Paris FC’s counter-attacking threat throughout the first half.
Nigeria international, Jennifer Echegini started the match for Paris FC, injecting energy and creativity into midfield and helping her side stay competitive despite PSG’s territorial dominance.
Merveille Kanjinga was a constant menace down the flank, repeatedly unsettling the Paris FC defence, though the breakthrough proved elusive before the interval.
Second-Half Blitz: PSG Take Control
The deadlock was finally broken shortly after the restart. Romée Leuchter, who has enjoyed a strong run of form this season, opened the scoring in the 47th minute with a precise finish following a clever layoff from Jackie Groenen.
PSG doubled their advantage in the 58th minute, when Kanjinga unleashed a fierce diagonal strike to put clear daylight between the sides and tilt the semi-final firmly in PSG’s favour.
Rasheedat Ajibade Strike PSG to Final
With Paris FC fading, Ajibade applied the finishing touch in the closing moments, meeting a low cut-back inside the area to make it 3–0 and cap a team spirit performance.
The win confirmed PSG’s second victory over Paris FC in a week, having also beaten their city rivals by the same scoreline in their previous encounter.
Celebrating her goal and PSG’s qualification, Ajibade shared her excitement on social media, reposting a club message and writing simply:
“On to the final.”
Since joining PSG in the summer, the Super Falcons captain has now made 10 appearances, nine in the league and one in the cup, with one goal and one assist to her name.
PSG will now face Olympique Lyonnais Féminin in the Coupe LFFP final on March 14, after Lyon cruised past Dijon FCO Féminin with a 4–0 win in the other semi-final.
