BK Häcken football director, Martin Ericsson has thrown his full support behind new signing and Super Falcons midfielder, Halimatu Ayinde.
The club side backs the Nigerian international to add quality, competitiveness and experience to the Swedish champions following her arrival at the club.
Halimatu joins Häcken with a reputation forged at the highest level of the women’s game, and Ericsson believes her pedigree will immediately strengthen the squad, particularly in midfield.
Speaking on Ayinde’s signing, Ericsson described her as a highly experienced player whose presence will give Häcken an edge both domestically and in Europe.
“It is a player with great experience who is joining us now,” Ericsson said.
“Hali is qualified and knows what it takes to play at the highest level and achieve success.”
The Häcken director stressed that Ayinde’s understanding of elite football and winning environments was a major factor behind the club’s decision to bring her in.
Tactical Flexibility and Athleticism Highlighted
Beyond experience, Ericsson also shared Ayinde’s versatility and athletic profile, noting that while she has been recruited primarily as a defensive midfielder, her skill set offers added tactical flexibility.
“She is a fast player who is confident with the ball, signed as a six but who can also play in the defensive line,” he added.
This adaptability is expected to provide Häcken with more options across competitions as they aim to sustain their dominance in Sweden and push deeper into European tournaments.
Ericsson concluded by officially welcoming the Nigerian star to the club.
“We wish her a warm welcome to Bollklubben.”
“This Is the Right Place for Me” – Halimatu Ayinde
Meanwhile, Halimatu is delighted after completing her move to the Swedish champions, describing BK Häcken as the perfect environment to keep improving while competing for major honours.
“It feels like this is the right place for me to continue developing but also compete and win more titles with the team,” she said.
The Super Falcons midfielder made it clear that ambition played a central role in her decision, with Häcken’s competitive outlook aligning with her own career goals.
The 30-year-old midfielder also offered insight into her personality and playing style, highlighting hard work, leadership and unpredictability as defining traits.
“I am a happy person who works hard. When I am on the field, I always want to give my best and contribute with leadership.”
“I am also not a player who is easy to predict, but I have a lot in my game,” Ayinde added.
