Fenerbahce have opened official talks with Atalanta over the possible signing of Nigerian forward Ademola Lookman, according to Turkish journalist Yagız Sabuncuoglu.
Discussions took place on Thursday when Fenerbahce’s Football Sporting Director, Devin Ozek, met with an Atalanta club executive to explore the conditions of a potential transfer.
During the meeting, the Serie A side reportedly placed a €45 million valuation on the 28-year-old attacker.
The asking price is currently considered too high by the Turkish giants, who are now working to reduce the fee through negotiations.
Sources close to the talks suggest Atalanta could be willing to lower their demands to around €40 million or possibly less, with Fenerbahçe waiting for a further drop before submitting an official bid.

The player himself is said to be open to a move to Turkey, which has encouraged Fenerbahce to continue negotiations despite the financial gap.
However, the Super Lig club are not alone in the race. Atletico Madrid remain keen admirers of Lookman, as confirmed by transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, speaking on DAZN Fútbol.

“He’s a player Atletico Madrid have always liked. The player is focused on the Champions League. We’ll see what happens from Thursday onwards,” Romano said.
Responding to Romano’s comments, journalist Matteo Moretto added with a smile:
“We’ll see, we’ll see (laughs). From Thursday onwards…”
Lookman recently returned to club action after a successful outing at the recent AFCON with Nigeria, where he helped the Super Eagles secure a bronze medal.
The forward was one of the tournament’s standout performers, registering three goals and four assists in six appearances.
