Rivers United head coach Finidi George has expressed optimism ahead of his side’s CAF Champions League clash against Power Dynamos FC, describing the encounter as an opportunity to get their continental campaign back on track.
Speaking after the team’s arrival in Ndola, Zambia, Finidi stressed that there are no easy opponents at this stage of the competition, noting that every team in the group phase deserves to be there.
However, he remains hopeful that Rivers United can rise to the occasion.
“First, we will rest and then see how we can prepare properly for the game. Any team in the group stage of the CAF Champions League deserves to be there. They are good enough, so we expect an interesting game. We will see what happens on Saturday,” Finidi said.
Rivers United have endured a difficult start to their Champions League group campaign, losing their opening two matches.
The Nigerian side were thrashed 3–0 by defending champions Pyramids FC in their first outing before suffering a 2–1 defeat against Moroccan side RS Berkane in their second game.
