Emmanuel Dennis Agrees Deal with Brondby IF, but Work Permit Delays Debut

Emmanuel Dennis has been handed a lifeline to relaunch his career after a 12-month period without a club.

Dennis penned a two-year deal with Danish Superliga side Brondby IF, and was confirmed on Thursday by the club.

After a week-long tryout, the 28 year-old free agent agreed a deal which sees him joins Brondby as their 16th acquisition of the season. However, he is not expected to see competitive action until February.

In a statement, the club’s football director Benjamin Schmedes praised the player’s quality.

“Emmanuel has shown us over the past week with all the clarity we could wish for that he possesses some skills that can give us more opportunities offensively, and that you don’t necessarily see every day in the Super League.”

The statement further read:

‘Emmanuel Dennis is currently in England to get his residence and work permit in place. He will join Brøndby IF once the paperwork is approved. The club expects the process to last into February. Emmanuel Dennis will be given the number 17 jersey.’

Meanwhile, the former Nottingham Forest’s signing drew the ire of some Brondby fans and left other baffled.

Dennis will team up with former Forest boss, Steve Cooper who was appointed in September.

The duo worked together for under a season at Forest where Dennis featured only 25 times under Cooper before he was sent out on loan.

Emmanuel Dennis expressed delight for the chance to join Brondby and has already taken a liking to his new teammates.

‘I am very happy to have signed with the club. I have seen video clips of the fans. They have a lot of energy, and so do I. I really appreciate the club giving me this opportunity and I am very excited to get started. Hopefully we will achieve great things together,’ ‘Dennis said.

‘The first week with the boys was fantastic. We found chemistry really quickly. They welcomed me so well that it felt like we had known each other for years. I could feel the love right away, and that made it even more attractive to me. Everyone was so nice and helpful, and I can’t wait to play on the same team as them’
