President Bola Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima and their aides are projected to spend N12.2 billion on foreign and local travels in the 2026 fiscal year.
 

Details from the State House budget estimates contained in the 2026 Appropriation Bill, currently before the National Assembly, show that travel and transport remain a major component of the Presidency’s expenditure, with international engagements accounting for the bulk of the allocation amid ongoing fiscal reforms.

For President Tinubu, a total of N7.014 billion was earmarked for travel and transport. This includes N6.14 billion for international travel and related logistics, and N873.89 million for local travel and transport.

The Vice President was allocated N1.732 billion for travel within the fiscal year, comprising N1.31 billion for international trips and N417.49 million for local movement.

An additional N3.433 billion was provided for travel and transport under the State House Headquarters.

The budget also allocated N179.01 million for the purchase of motor vehicles for the President, while food and catering supplies were allocated N375.19 million. Drugs and medical supplies received N79.68 million, while refreshment and meals were allocated N56.43 million.

Overall, the total allocation for the President stood at N8.39 billion, including other items not listed, with capital expenditure accounting for N777.19 million.

For the Vice President, N171.03 million was budgeted for food and catering supplies, N14.99 million for refreshment and meals, and N21.8 million for honorarium and sitting allowances. The budget also provided N28 million for welfare packages and N11.83 million for publicity and advertisement.

In total, the Vice President’s allocation stood at N2.64 billion, including other items, with capital expenditure estimated at N641.39 million, reflecting spending on assets and long-term support infrastructure.

The State House Headquarters received a total allocation of N43.20 billion for the 2026 fiscal year. This comprises N2.64 billion for personnel costs, N10.10 billion for overheads, and N30.49 billion for capital expenditure.

Further breakdown shows N11.23 billion allocated for the purchase of motor vehicles, N7 billion for the provision of solar power at the Villa, and N2.42 billion for wildlife conservation. Honorarium and sitting allowances were allocated N2.12 billion, while office furniture and fittings received N2.56 billion.

Welfare packages were allocated N513.84 million, vehicle spares and maintenance received N3.84 billion, while rehabilitation and repairs of office buildings were allocated N8.48 billion. Rehabilitation of residential buildings was pegged at N44.21 million.

Other allocations include N371.80 million for library books and equipment, N12.19 million for sporting and gaming equipment, and N11.71 million for the construction and provision of office buildings.
