The Kwara State Fire Service has recovered a female dead body from a domestic well in Ilorin, the state capital.
The 12-year old girl identified as Nabilat of Busari Alao street, Ikoyi community, Irewolede area, Ilorin West Local Government Area of Kwara State, was fetching water on Saturday, November 15, 2025 when one her legs suddenly slipped off the ground and caused her to fall into the well.
The spokesman of the fire service, Hassan Hakeem Adekunle, who confirmed the incident in a statement said the victim was recovered d3ad.
“The terrible incident occurred this Morning about 10:35hr and the Brigade was Summoned through an exchange Telephone call by One Mr Mayowa Living in that neighbourhood,” the statement read.
“However, Firemen were able to recover the dead body from the well and later handed it over to one family member of the deceased.
“According to the report, the victim girl went to fetch water and during the process of fetching one of her legs suddenly slipped off the ground and eventually tumbled down into the well.
“Therefore, The Director, Kwara State Fire Service, Prince Falade John Olumuyiwa, expressed his Sadness over the incident and urged the general public to be more careful in their day-to-day activities and they should desist from sending underage children to fetch water in domestic well.”
