Super Falcons and Brighton goalkeeper, Chiamaka Nnadozie is proud of herself after being named among the world’s elite shot-stoppers after earning a nomination for The Best FIFA Women’s Goalkeeper 2025 Award.
The Nigerian international, who capped a remarkable year with standout performances for both club and country, shared her thoughts in an interview where she reflected on her global recognition, paid tribute to fellow goalkeepers.
Nnadozie also spoke passionately about her hunger for team success and her ambition to help Brighton Women win a major trophy soon.
A golden year for Nigeria’s No. 1
The 24-year-old goalkeeper a stellar 2024/25 season, helping Paris FC to a historic Coupe de France Féminine triumph before joining Brighton & Hove Albion Women.
On the international stage, she was instrumental in Nigeria’s Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) victory in Morocco, where she kept four clean sheets and won the Golden Glove as the tournament’s Best Goalkeeper.
“I’m one of them” – Nnadozie on standing among the world’s best
Reacting to her nomination for the FIFA honour, Chiamaka Nnadozie said she was grateful to be recognised among the best goalkeepers in the world, describing the feat as the reward of her hard work and commitment.
“I think I’m one of them, playing for Brighton, playing for Nigeria,” Nnadozie said.
“But then, you know, I respect every goalkeeper, you know, and a big shout out to Hannah for winning the World’s Best Goalkeeper, you know, she deserves it. And yeah, but I think I’m one of them.”
The Super Falcons goalie also shared that individual accolades, while rewarding, were not her ultimate motivation.
“I’m very soon, I will be there, to be honest. And the thing is, all these things don’t really matter to me.”
“The most important thing is I’m helping my team to get where they want to be, to achieve what they want to achieve,” she explained.
“You know, yeah, that’s just my main priority. And again, I’m improving on a daily basis.”

“I must win a trophy with Brighton” – Nnadozie’s next mission
Having lifted silverware with Paris FC before her move to England, Nnadozie revealed that her biggest personal goal at Brighton is to help the Seagulls win a major title.
According to her, this dream is something she believes is within reach given the team’s ambition and work ethic.
“There’s this thing that has always been in my head. Even when I moved to Paris, I told myself I want to win a trophy with this team before I leave.”
“And it was just like the perfect time to win it with them before I left,” she recalled.
“And even when I was coming here, I told myself I don’t care how long I’m going to be here, but one thing I’m very sure, I must win a trophy here.”
“And I think that’s going to happen soon because the team is very ambitious, the players are willing to work hard, they are ready to give everything.”
She also praised Brighton’s coaching staff for their dedication, describing their relentless commitment as an inspiration to the players.
“And we have super amazing staff who are ready to work as long as they can. You know, sometimes in my head, I’ll just be thinking, don’t they have families? That’s very good.”
“When you’re giving everything to the players, we the players don’t have a choice and to give everything also. So I think very soon it’s going to happen.”
