Wolverhampton Wanderers parted ways with head coach Vítor Pereira following Sunday’s 3–0 defeat to Fulham.
The decision comes after a dismal start to the season, with Wolves winless and having lost eight of their first ten matches.
Pereira’s sack was ironical because he had just signed a new four-year contract at the start of the campaign.
Executive chairman and owner Jeff Shi expressed gratitude to Pereira for his efforts:
“Vítor and his team worked tirelessly for Wolves and helped guide us through a challenging period last season, for which we are grateful. Unfortunately, the start to this season has been a disappointment and, despite our strong desire to give the head coach time and matches to find an improvement, we have reached a point where we must make a change.”

Pereira responded with a message of thanks:
“It has been a privilege to manage Wolverhampton Wanderers and experience unique moments with this club and its supporters. I would like to thank the club’s owners for their trust, the players for their hard work and commitment over these months, and all the staff for making me feel part of the family. I wish the club all the best for the rest of the season.”
One of Pereira’s key signings, Nigerian forward Tolu Arokodare, now faces uncertainty under Wolves’ next head coach.
Arokodare made only three starts in the nine matches Pereira oversaw which he scored two goals who both came in the EFL CUP.
The new manager could offer him a fresh opportunity to stake his claim in the starting XI as Wolves fight to retain Premier League status.

In the interim, under-21 head coach James Collins and under-18 head coach Richard Walker will oversee training, and they may manage Saturday’s crucial clash against Chelsea.
Wolves are considering former England international Gary O’Neil, but Middlesbrough’s Rob Edwards is also thought to be in the picture – though any appointment would require significant compensation.
For Arokodare, the managerial change represents a crucial chance to impress and secure regular playing time in a squad desperate for goals and stability.
