Nigerian Goalkeeper Kayode Bankole Joins TS Galaxy on Two-Year Deal

Goalkeeper Kayode Bankole has signed a two-year contract with PSL side TS Galaxy, marking his first professional stint abroad.

The 23-year-old finalized a free transfer from NPFL champions, Remo Stars and was unveiled by The Rockets on the same day.

Bankole, a standout performer during his five-year spell with Remo Stars, brings an impressive résumé to South Africa.

With 93 appearances, over 40 clean sheets, and 2 NPFL Golden Glove awards, the goalkeeper has established himself as one of Nigeria’s brightest prospects.

His solitary cap for the Super Eagles hints at a promising international career, and this move to the PSL could strengthen his case for more national team call-ups.

The transfer, confirmed on Bankole’s 23rd birthday, was celebrated with a warm welcome from his new teammates, who serenaded him during his first training session.

TS Galaxy, currently seventh in the PSL after eight matches in the 2025–26 season, views Bankole as a key addition to bolster their goalkeeping ranks.

The club’s management highlighted his agility, command of the box, and proven track record in the NPFL as key reasons for the signing.

Bankole’s departure from Remo Stars, where he lost his starting spot last season to Benin Republic’s Serge Obassa, comes after his contract expired — attracting interest from several NPFL clubs.

However, the lure of the PSL’s professional environment and its reputation as a springboard for African talent influenced his decision.

He joins Stanley Nwabali as the second Nigerian goalkeeper in South Africa’s top flight.

As Bankole settles into life in the PSL, all eyes will be on his debut in the coming weeks.

TS Galaxy resumes their campaign with an away fixture against Magesi FC on Saturday.
